Dear Prudence

“Pleasure is everything
Give in to happiness
Reject propriety; embrace variety
Prudence is sooo 1658
Life is fleeting; clasp it hard with both hands
Seek delight
Trust your impulses
Ordinary is pointless
Break free"

This was the message printed on the packet of a packet of Gu (with an umlaut - can't be asked to find out how to do umlauts) which we devoured last night with Gusto. The Gusto wasn't that bad either.

If you feel inclined to live your life by a credo invented by a 22 year old thrusting advertising copywriter and are not too bothered by 284 kcal per pot (20gm fat) then I implore you to get stuck in. I know I did.

It's a Desiderata for the 21st Century.

Alright you can do flipping umlauts. Bastard.

Does it contain sügar?

Does it give any clue why they chose 1658? I know it's the year Cromwell died, with Puritan overtones therefore, but it wasn't otherwise an especially notable year, was it?

Dave: I can cut and paste umlauts But not on this iPad. They chose 1658 because it was nearly 5 o'clock knocking off time.

Dave said...

I didn't cut and paste them. I used alt 0252.

Guuuorgeous stuff, isn't it? And well named Goo. Haven't had any lately. Probably bad for us.

Gü (umlaut, dieresis or trémat?) for it, I say.

Never heard of this product. Do they do it in strawberry as well?

Get stuck into life or Gu?
This is an umlat free zone also. I gave them up for Lent.

Gü? tis new, too! xoxoxo

Not new. Been around for five or six years I think. Chocolate in small tubs, with the consistency of smooth thick mud. High chocolate content though, I'd guess. As I said, very gooey.

Mike & Ann: I think the umlaut makes the vowel very short as in GEW but it then sounds even sillier.

Christopher: I think they only do it in sticky.

Pat: Get rid of the lauts that what I say. You're then left with "um".

Sav: Ok showoff. The pots are miniscule by the way.

M&A: Yes it lasts just a few seconds once the lid removed.

It's a püdding init?

Ref umlauts. I'm happy and proud to say that this machine doesn't do foreign accents. Nor do I.

Rog said...

Macy: that's what I think when I see Alex Hammond

M&A: yes, I also have a grave and acute aversion to accents

An umlaut is extremely easy on an iPad. Hold down the letter you are typing for a second and all the alternatives show up, then slide your finger to the one you want.

Anyone know how to spell Mötörhëäd?

Mike and Ann said...

Ref use of accents. I too have always been very cautious and circumflex in my use of them.

Rog said...

Tim: Lemmie has umlauts on his face.

M&A: Trés Bonne mon ami.
