This Answerphone Message (found via Mr Spartacus and Rosie) purporting to be for a school in Australia turns out to be a spoof. However there must be the odd retired schoolteacher amongst you who will find it slightly amusing in a "wishful thinking" sort of way.
Have a lovely weekend!

And also to you.
I read it was a spoof afterwards but it struck me as very funny. And, you'll always find something to read on "He's Spartacus."
I'm not odd.
I love it - there should be a number for parents who want their child to stay in and wait for the gas man.
It was always the gas man.
You're such a comfort, Rosie.
By the way, Rog, thanks for the only comment in three months on my "Tomorrow belongs to them" post.
I naively expected a slightly larger number of responses but I guess the lack of same kind of bears out my premise.
Anyway, it came from the heart.
Number 6 please....why else do we pay all that frikin money?
or even us non-retired teachers.
"If you want us to raise your child..."
Yup...
Not a spoof. We used it all the time. You could get this with occasional add-ons (Nativity Play, SATS, Red Nose Day, religious/sex education) from E.J.Arnold & Sons, Educational Suppliers, Leeds.
Having a mother who is a retired teacher, this sounds all too familiar.
I've never met a teacher that answered a phone (at school) . . .
I love it. Boy cracked up when he heard it too.
Dave: Cheers!
Rosie: Thanks for the tip. I bet he'll be along in a minute.
Kaz: You're not even either. Prime, I would say. Nowadays it's the drug dealer calling.
Mr Spartacus: Thanks for your lead here. Your post proves the old adage that you can't always be popular and right at the same time.
Sarah: I didn't know you smoked. And I'd put you down as Benson & Hedges.
Annie: I'm pleased to have provided a little light relief for those still at the chalkface.
Christopher: You've now provided me with many flashbacks of my embarrassing visits to EJ Arnold in the early 1970's.
Madame D: In a wishful thinking way I trust!
Ziggi: Can't you catch them on their mobiles?
Roses: Good! Enjoy your weekend.
