The Coolest Thing Ever

Sunday evenings used to be the very worst thing about salaried employment, particularly on wet, miserable weekends. And bright sunny ones, come to that. As the evening progresses the gradual looming horror of Monday Morning would get larger and there was only Antiques Roadshow or Time Team to counter the sheer bloody misery.

Now I'm self employed I end up working a lot of the weekend but that creeping terror has completely gone.

Instead of just being smug and annoying I've gone to the trouble of finding the most uplifting and heart-warming YouTube video which will dispel that Sunday evening/ Monday Morning anticipation Gloom - guaranteed. I've got a feeling that tonight's going to be a good night.

Just turn up your speakers, press play and enjoy Fergie & the Black Eyed Peas on the streets of Chicago last September with Flash Mob organised by Oprah. Get your Phones out and start waiving them in the air!!!

I prefer lentils.

Oh I remember it so well - I always left my marking/prep 'til the last minute on Sunday night.
But - thanks for this - It'll make me feel so much better when I'm idling tomorrow.

I couldn't watch the video, as it appeared to involve popular culture.

I used to be sick every Sunday, as stress started to build up before Monday. I solved that by the cunning plan of switching to a job where I worked on Sundays.

Rog, they closed half of the goddamned city to please HRH Oprah that day. Which, as you can imagine, pissed off the miserable folks who had to work downtown at the time.

Loved it!! Thanks.

Geoff: I prefer to buy my own.

Kaz: I thought you'd do it in the staff room during assembly.

Dave: A cunning plan. I knew that calm seren exterior concealed a stress puppy.

Elizabeth: Thanks for the inside knowledge. Chicago always seems my kinda town - I did a convention there once. "Goddamned City" is where Batman lives isn't it?

Lesley: My work here is done!!!

Love it too.

I used to get that sick feeling by being dragged back to school on a Sunday evening....yuk...I remedied that by being naughty. I was usualy gated for the entire term and not allowed home at all!

Sarah: It was all tough love at St Trinians.

"Goddammed City". Please stop making me laugh.
I saw Dave on the fourth row.

I'll have to watch it later. The Sage is watching Antiques Roadshow.

Having always been self-employed, we've never had days off, as such. Fortunately, we don't work very hard.

This is a great clip. I may make it part of my Monday morning routine...

All too true, that prediction at 1:01. Ruined my Monday morning.

Dave: Yes he was definitely there. So much for the popular culture!

Z: I'm with you - working for yourself isn't really hard at all!

Life: Yes, it's Monday Morning life affirmation!

Christopher: Hair loss at 5? I didn't think it started till 6.30?

Sundays used to be sing something simple followed by recording the top 20 on radio 2. Happy days.

the only thing worse than the awful anticipation of Monday, is Monday itself. It's just as bad as I thought it was going to be and there are still 4 more long days to go :(

Rog said...

Scarlett: Ah yes! Everyone caught the last 30 seconds of the Cliff Adams Singers.

Ziggi: Still....mustn't grumble, eh?

Looking on the bright side though, the one good thing about unemployment is the complete freedom from Sunday Night Dread.

Just had my first gloomy Sunday pm in months.

grrrrrrrrr

Scarlet, it was the other way round - SSS, featuring Jack Emblow on the accordian, was after Alan Freeman, wasn't it?

Rog said...

Macy: Ah, but you can be down that posh shoe shop in Princes Street in your Monday lunch hour.

Ziggi: Think Grrrreaatttt!!!

Richard: Ah, I think youi're right. A nation's youth reached for the off switch simultaneously but always caught the first three words of "Sing Something Simple...". Click.
