Masterchef

Mrs Rine has been up North since last Monday on Nappy Duty and I have been left fending for myself (and my two charges).

Rumours abound that I am the "Sultan of Ping" and have been existing on Sainsburies Quiches and Steak & Kidney Pies microwaved. I would just like to dispel this ugly rumour (Aka T. Blair).

Only this evening, for example, I had 4 (YES FOUR) rings on the cooker going and concocted an Italian Inspired Pasta dish.

It comprised:

Giovanni's Spinach & Ricotta Tortelloni

Tomato & Basil Sauce

Runner Beans from 3 doors down

Courgettes from Garden fried with Mushrooms

John & Gregg would have been salivating....

Lily decided it was nothing to do with her...

Oz was open mouthed with astonishment...

Excellent flavours, I just want to take my shoes off and go for a paddle.

I can't see the bottle of red wine in that recipe.

Oz looks oztonished.

Billy: Yes and it was less than 3400 calories!

Roses: No room for seconds!

Geoff: The wine was just there for show. At least Oz's lower set were in evidence - he doesn't smile that often.

This is molto impressive.
But - that tomato sauce - is it Lloyd Grossman?
Gross man!

How coincidental that we have both demonstrated our prowess with the oven. Shame you didn't make your own tomato sauce though.

Just a minute Rog..........do you and Dave swap notes about what your blog posts will be???..and today we will be mostly cooking? haha

Are you trying to tell Mrs Rine that you can cope without her?? if you have any sense I should be lying on the floor looking as if you are the brink of starvation if I was you. She will never leave you on your own again.....'cos that's wot ladies do isn't it?...look after men???

oops didn't read that before I posted it...grammar is shot to pieces!

Are you and Dave planning to open a canteen?

Dave said...

Christopher obviously bought a job lot of that comment at the market.

No Sarah, Rog and I didn't collude - although I did mention on Facebook on Saturday (the day I made the sauce) that I might write about it on Monday.

Kaz: It's from a secret family recipe. Giovanni Family.

Dave: I would have published the detailed recipe for my Tomato based sauce but the font on the tub was a bit small.

Sarah: Men make all the big decisions like should we recognize North Korea. Women make all the little decisions like eating, drinking, spending, living...

Christopher: As we are both purveyors of the finest Cant that would most approriate.

Dave 2: I couldn't cope with another chap in my kitchen luvvies!

We had pasta too. I should have taken a photograph.

Well done for not pretending you'd cooked all the food from scratch. The meal looks excellent and I trust you'll prepare a sumptuous feast to welcome Mrs Rine home again.

If scratch is a good word to use with two dogs in the house, that is.

there's nowt in one of those pans

Rog said...

Z: Scratch is a popular pastime round here. We box all the ticks. I mean, tick all the boxes...

Ziggi: That's where Mr Giovanni's Tortelloni goes, don't you see? Provided the bottle of red wine hadn't dulled the coordination.
