Tentacles

The BBC Virtual Revolution Programme is quite entertaining having impressively bagged interviews with most of the leading figures in the development of the Internet from Tim Berners-Lee to Bill Gates, via the founding fathers of Amazon, Facebook, Apple and Paypal. Plus glittering Kingdom Twit himself, Stephen Fry without whom the Internet as we know it would not exist.

It's presented by the slightly annoying orange haired bint from the Guardian who spends much of the series looking whistfully through her hair at a laptop in exotic locations.

If you are at a loose end, have a go at the "Web Behaviour Test" on the programme site. You have to create a log-in but it is good fun and tells you which "web animal" you are.

I came up as an Octopus, fast, solitary and adaptable. (Or slapdash, anti-social and unable to concentrate.)

What manner of creature are you I wonder?

Elephant. Big, lumbering, grey.

I watched the series and now listen to the fringed-one's podcast.

I skipped the games on the survey. Maybe that's why I'm an elephant.

Couldn't be bothered to do the quiz, but I am a hedgehog.

What Vicus said. I'm a blue whale.

I watched it too... and eventually remembered to do the quiz.
I'm an Elk. Slow, forgetful and crap at multi-tasking.

I am a Web Elephant - social, slow-moving and adaptable. A big brain (take note Dave, oh ye of little faith)with a versatile trunk...?!

I found the games very stressful, as if someone was watching me..!

That wasn't much FUN Rog - but I'm also an octopus.
Good to know I have a range of sophisticated behaviours. Obviously they must have seen me eating pizza.

OK, I did it for real this time.

I am a Leopard: Fast-moving - Web Leopards like you are adept at getting information from the internet very quickly. Your speed is a trait you share with real-world leopards, which are among the fastest land animals.

Solitary - Leopards live alone, fending for themselves in isolated home ranges. Similarly, the Web Leopard likes to go it alone when looking for information, rather than rely on social networks, or other sites where the users create the content.

Admittedly, I got very bored when answering the questions; I didn't read them and put 'sometimes' for everything... I did it at the end of the day and just wanted to play the games...

I kept being distracted by her rings. Good hair though.

Hedgehog...and I burned the cabbage rolls by playing the games.

Dave said...

Cabbage rolls? Burning them sounds like a win-win situation.

Geoff: You never forget, do you. Does Betty get a ride in your Howdah?

Vicus: Prickly, eh?

Dave: You're not really interested are you? But you will be....

Scarlett: We could reprise the "I think you're a bloke" then "balls in the air" comedy genius from Facebook.

Sarah: A versatile trunk? One should always count the rings.

Kaz: Very intelligent, octopii. Apart from not being able to spell octopii of course...

Dave: See. I now predict that this will be the subject of your Friday post...just see if I'm right!

Scarlett: The first part of the quiz was rubbish...er, where was I now?

Billy: Hair not as nice as "Sunderland PA" Stacey on Masterchef, although her Mullett was soon all over the place. (or was it plaice)

Rosie: Cabbage rolls? Burning them sounds like a win-win situation.

Dave: When there is talk of people burning food in their homes, I think some of us think of your baked potato.

What people miss is my perplexed little face before the penny drops.
And it doesn't always.

I went through several names to register - inexplicably, they kept refusing them - and when I logged in at last, I was too tired and went to bed instead. This was last night, I haven't had my daytime nap quite yet.

I'll do the quiz later, if I can be bothered. Whatever it describes me as, I'm more than half dog with a bit of horse and something of the amphibian. Probably a newt.

Dave said...

The last bit will be as a result of the wine, Z.

Rog said...

Scarlett: I hope Penny isn't your drinking companion.

Z: Only half dog?!!!!

Dave: That's Newt on laws of liquidity.

Z said...

No, darling, more than half dog, I said. Newt rather than frog because, when living out of the water, their skins are dry.

Funnily enough, most dogs don't like alcohol and newts are, contrary to their reputation, teetotal. However, horses are well known to enjoy a pint or two, particularly on a Sunday.
