My 86 Year old partially-sighted Mother was in the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital during most of April and was very ill indeed.
She had dropped in weight to around 5 stone and acquired Superbug C-Diff to complicate matters so spent most of the time in isolation. It didn't look very bright at all.
Remarkably, and thanks to the NHS and the N&N team, she is now back home and has put on 3 stone in weight. Last month she announced that she had booked a week's residential Art Course at St Dunstan's in Brighton and duly completed this last week. I called in to check everything was OK and was a bit flabbergasted to see what the partially sighted 86 year old's artwork was actually like.

Wow! Your mum can really shake her arty stuff.
And after a horrible illness.
Wow! (again)
Well she's a tough old bugger then!
It's really good to read that not only is she recovered but it taking on life at the gallop. I just love the top picture, excellent!
Here's to your Mum!
Indeed WOW ...I love it when people refuse to die!...and not only that, but intend to take up a new hobby. Brilliant. I love the top one.
Perhaps she can give Dave lessons in joie de vivre!!
This really heartening, Rog. Delighted for you and for her. Of course, she's her son's mother...
Yeay for your mum! I like the top one - it reminds me of looking out at the landscape from a train window.
I like the bottom one too :)
I think the only part of that I could manage would be the putting on 3 stone in weight. Good for her.
Love and peace
Beautiful. So glad to hear she's getting better. Hurrah for the NHS!
Hurrah!!
Is putting on 3 stones a good thing? I shall start tomorrow.
Forgot to mention the new template, looks good, very crisp.
And on top of all that she has a great sense of design and colour. Good for her!
My new template has made my blog completely wonky...
Good to see!
I am the owner of parents in their eighties - I shall sign them up immediately.
Sx
This is excellent and splendid news. Although do be warned, she's now an art student. Look what it did for me.
Thanks for all your good wishes!
It appears the secret is to smoke like a trooper until you are 80 and read the Daily Mail every day, so I hope you'll all be taking that advice!
The amazing thing is she is partially sighted. She has expressed an interest in the St Dunstans Archery classes so just be warned!
I would mention the Noel Coward story about the dog pushing the other dog to St Dunstan's, but it's a tad indelicate.
The word verification is 'feist', and that's what your mother has plenty of.
Good stuff and glad to know that she's getting better too.
