Ladies Fashion through the Ages

Ooh, how warm. I could do with a sprig of Holly just like that.

When I was young (well alright then, if you insist - even younger) a good many elderly ladies wore fox fur tippets like the one in your photo. They were long and had fox paws at either end, and sometimes the foxes mask (with glass eyes) at one end and the foxtail at the other. At the time I always wondered why they were so long and thin; and I came to the conclusion that the foes were that shape because they had been run over on the road, probably by steam rollers, and that the old ladies had picked them up and wrapped them round their necks.
I think they were real fox furs and not faux fox furs.

Interesting to see how one stole up on the other.

Not entirely clear to me which is the wearer and which the wearee..

Z: She can be a bit prickly!

Mike: The steamroller produces a complete fur coat!

Martin: Stole, like most of my jokes.

Zig: Very good! One of Mr Murph's I think!

Nota: Neither of them have a wearee in the world...

yes I think it was! I've been looking for an opportunity to use it ever since! :) Ah Mr Murph what a witty and handsome chap he was ... but now look at you surrounded by women, he must be laughing his socks off.

The more fashion changes the more it stays slightly similar.
