The wrong sort of Pressure

The forecasters have been going on about approaching high pressure for days and days, but this morning it appears they are correct and a glorious long day of high Summer is in progress.

At risk of becoming extremely irritating, these are the days that I REALLY appreciate our decision to sling our jobs in and acquire the discretion to not work for unappreciative employers on the monthly cycle of wage-slavery. It came with the discretion to not have any regular income and work seven days a week but hey, you can't have everything!

Pressure isn't really pressure if you have the power to do something about it yourself. Now I really do appreciate High Pressure!

Facebook users will know that there has been a lot of jabber about "Facebook URL's" and everyone has been "bagging" their own. Here's mine:

I am very glad to see the sunshine today. I'd have been gladder still to see it four days ago when the forecasters predicted it. I envy anybody who is in the position to enjoy it all day long.

Is it my imagination, or are weather forecasts becoming less and less accurate?

I think it's that our expectations of accuracy are higher, Liz. And that the forecasts are so full of such digitally-generated detail that we think there must be something in it.

I agree with you Rog - I'm just off out to relax on the lawn with the daily papers. Oh, and I might catch a spot of Wimbledon later.

Don't worry about me. I'll just sit at my desk with my nose to the corporate grindstone. Ghastly, isn't it?

And I'm just back from a lovely ralaxing morning in the sun, bricklaying. It got so warm I even had to put a hat on.

Very glad I'm not sitting in an office all day today.

I'm a cynic. I think they're predicting good weather to make people holiday in this country to boost the tourist industry. As I said.. I'm a cynic!

Liz: It was George III who said the British Summer is 3 fine days and a thunderstorm. I think putting a roof over Wimbledon was a masterstroke in ensuring a longer run of sun. And no Cliff.

Z: I agree ... the little Google instant maps for this very street are rubbish.

Sir B: I'm now locked in an upstairs bedroom with a lot of cardboard and brown tape. At least you have internet contact with the outside world.

Dave: So you've been "laying" in the sun? (geddit!)

Scarlett : I hope you're spraying up with your factor 12 with your pale complextion or you'll turn scarlett. The met office need psychics, not cynics!

Quite so Rog, I fortunatley work (hard) through the winter and have the summers off for lounging around in the sun....never ever trust wot that lying toad julie rainger says.

what's all this about having your own url?? and wots the point??

Rog said...

Sarah: Professional Snow Clearer ? Careful what you say about Julie - she is worshipped in certain areas! I only did my URL to see if "smug.git" had been taken - surprisingly it hadn't!

Sarah said...

maybe dave should have 'sad-git' if he likes julie so much!

She's a very nice girl. But blonde.

Sarah said...

Life of leisure? Gah!

*shakes fist from corporate grindstone*

sorry, ineffective bloated bureaucratic grindstone.

Rog said...

John: I comment on Facebook

Kaz: And you!

Billy: Sorry Corporates, didn't mean to rub nose in grindstone. As I said, I've spent most of the day slaving over cardboard in a back bedroom but do have the freedom to pop oout for a quick 20 minute bike ride from time to time!

I've managed to bag www.facebook.com/complete.idiot which I'm rather chuffed about as it's the only thing I've got written in my facebook sidebar. What on earth does one do with it?
