Pressing Engagements

Yesterday I had a few hours free so I decided to get stuck into one of the 117 projects on the "back burner to do" list.

I couldn't face the painting of the Garage or the Hall Stairs & Landing so dragged out the old bookbinding press from the back of the garage where it has fester
ed for the last year or so.

My finishing skills sometimes leave something to be desired but I think I did quite well here. I've also downloaded the new iPhone blogger app so I can post this from the garage to give you up to the minute Sky News style reportage.

Great! A story with a twist.

Thanks Martin. I wish the Blogger iPhone app had been as neat as I was!

Just think, if ever you get your shed at the bottom of the garden you'll be able to install a webcam!

Or maybe not..

This is very considerate, Rog, as Sky News is the only English language channel we have. Now to find the TV switch.

Macy: I believe gardening as an exercise can help you shed bottom.

Christopher: Just don't expect Alex Crawford that's all I'm saying.

It looks great - apart from looking rather like an instrument of toture.

You plastered and painted that brick wall jolly well, too.

A very handsome instrument now Rog. Every home must have a pressing need for something like that.
What are you going to use it for ?
Or is it part of your trading stock?

Rog said...

Pat: You mean like the Junior Violin?

Z: I just did that to annoy Dave, Z.

Mike & Ann: Every home but perhaps not suitable for small flats where one is pressed for space.

Where does the Kindle fit?

Please place Ms. Reid in press.

Nota: Good Point - under the platen I think!

Rosie: Yay!!!

We've got something like that in our garage but it calls itself a cider press.

Rog said...

Hi Lettie, and Welcome. I see you have in Cider knowledge.

A head press for any unsavouries you may encounter!

Rog said...

Good idea John. Press digitization, that's magic.

Dave said...

So, are you going to take up bookbinding now?

Or perhaps you could use it to press wild flowers.

Press digitization, magic --- don't quite know why, but it makes me think of the Ingoldsby Legends. Torturing words to make rhymes, I suppose, or in your case tortured puns. Still chuckling over it.

Rog said...

Dave: I'm just trying to earn an honest living guv.

Mike & Ann: Well you live and learn...I'd never heard of the Ingoldsby Legends and assumed they were a 1960's tribute band from Skegness. As a fan of Mr Pooter who came along much later I'd be interested to read them.

Pre Pooter. By Rev. Richard H. Barham. First published as a whole in 1840. I think the only part of it that's remembered now is The Jackdaw of Rheims. It's got a versified form of 'the Norfolk Legend' The Babes in the Wood. The villain in it - the wicked uncle- comes to a bad, though remorseful, end you'll be glad to hear :-

He purchased some sugar of lead,
Took it home, popped it into his porridge,
Ate it up and then took to his bed,
and so died, in the workhouse, in Norwich.
