It's a Dog's Life

This little fellow arrived with us 8 years ago and ever since has been our constant daily companion - until Good Friday when he sadly passed away aged 13 years and 2 months..

Oz first appeared in Blogland 6 years ago alongside his sagacious Labrador brother Mr Murph. He wasn't so much the Wise as the Morecambe of the partnership - sharp as scissors and always ready to puncture pomposity with his ready wit and feisty ripostes.

Oz was his own man and the bravest little chap you ever knew. He was little more than a puppy when he saw off two housebreakers at my brother's house when he lived there whilst his Rottweiller brother slept on. He would scamper up to a group of any large dogs and hold his own, possibly because he misunderstood the expression "face off". However, he was always rather partial to a leggy lady lurcher or two and resembled a much cuter version of Bernie Eccleston.

Independent to a fault, he invariably went his own way. It's less than two weeks since we were left pacing up and down with Lily next to a large piece of woodland searching for him, only for him to come strutting out 20 minutes later with a "what's your problem?" expression.

We'll miss the furry little bugger.

I'm so sorry, Rog. He was a feisty lad, with or without his teeth.

Devastated, Rog. So sorry for you both and Lil. He couldn't have had a happier home, could he?

The little chap leaves a huge gap, but you have hundreds of happy memories left. Deepest sympathy, Rog.

I'm now catching up on my blog reading today and I just had to pop around and say here, how sorry I am.

I was so looking forward to meeting Oz in the end of May at the Blog Party.

Nothing much worse than losing a much loved dog. He obviously had such a great time while with your family. I hope there is a dog blog party for them all somewhere.

Great that he should be doing his thing to the end.
He'll always be an important part of your family history as will my dear departed Havoc and Jock.

Oh no - I've just come back and am very sad to hear this news. I didn't realise Oz was so old. What a sprightly lad he was.
