Careful of what you wish for...

I'd love to work upon a farm
Sighed Hols and Lily too
Those farm dogs have such lovely times
Knee deep in cattle poo

They spend all day just roaming free
And sitting up on tractors
They bark and bark at 5 bark gates
Regardless of risk factors

But wait a mo! What of the night?
They're chained up to a post
They don't have snuggles in the house
And don't get bits of toast

So don't aspire to be someone else
It's not really that clever
Just make the most of who you are
You won't be here forever.

Happy New Year!

And a jolly good poem too with a very sensible message...I shall be what I am...

Very philosophical felines, those two, as well as being poetical pups.

I apologise profusely, oh dogs. It's just that being alliterative sometimes kicks in, and that's what I was being when I called you philosophical felines. I really didn't mean it. I do appreciate that you are canines. I probably meant 'cultural canines'. Sorry.

P.s. Oh, alright then - 'cultured canines'.

Nota: Same to you with knobs on!

Mike & Ann: Lily and Holly have been saved any affront as I haven't given them access to the computer. I thought you could be fined £50 for alliteration? Maybe it was the more serious version of fly tipping.

hahahaha funny poem (and love the photo). The pros and cons - I guess my two dogs have the best of both worlds - out there in the paddocks and still allowed in the house at night.
