Born under a bad Sign

"What do you mean, I was raised in a family background of wealth and priviledge?", I asked Mrs R. the other day.

She knows very well my humble beginnings, raised in a lowly greasy-spoon cafe in one of the less salubrious seaside resorts on the East Coast. "Why did you imply that I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth?".

"No I didn't", she replied. "I said you were born in the Silver Spoon in Yarmouth".

Was Roger Daltrey born in the Plastic Spoon Cafe in Hammersmith?

My mum had a chip shop.

Geoff: Now he's in the Ivy every night!

Kaz: That explains why you're so good with computers then.

Mmmmm... chips.

At risk of causing offence, I feel that you may have been over generous when you implied that Yarmouth was "less salubrious".

Especially when compared with Lowestoft.

I read your post out to the Sage. He grunted.

Blue plaque richly deserved. So glad your birth had no connection with the planet beyond Neptune.

Dave: They sell good ones in Great Yarmouth.

Sir B: Point taken. I didn't say just "How" less!

Z: Is that bad? I feel deeply honoured.

Christopher: I do occasionally disappear up it, but not as far as Cameron Mackintosh. I went to his office once off the Tottenham Court Rd and he'd put up his own plaque "Cameron Mackintosh Thrived here 1992- ".

It was probably a hidden chortle. Honoured is an appropriate response.
